Engagement Management

Engagements are the central organising unit for consulting work in AtlasOS. The project milestones module is relabelled Engagements in the consulting vertical, providing a structured way to manage scope, milestones, deliverables, and team assignments.

Creating an Engagement

To create a new engagement:

  1. Navigate to Engagements in the sidebar
  2. Click New Engagement
  3. Fill in the engagement details:
    • Engagement name — a descriptive title (e.g. "HR Policy Review — Acme Corp")
    • Client — link to the client entity
    • Work package — the type of engagement (strategy, HR, operations, digital transformation, etc.)
    • Account manager — the lead consultant responsible for delivery
    • Start and end dates — the engagement timeline
    • Billing model — fixed fee, time-and-materials, or retainer
    • Status — Proposal, Active, On Hold, Completed

Milestones

Each engagement can have multiple milestones representing key deliverables or phases:

  • Discovery — initial assessment, stakeholder interviews, data gathering
  • Analysis — findings report, gap analysis, benchmarking
  • Recommendations — strategic plan, implementation roadmap
  • Delivery — implementation support, training, change management
  • Handover — final report, knowledge transfer, project closure

Create milestones from the engagement detail view. Each milestone has a target date, description, and completion status.

Task Management Within Engagements

Tasks within an engagement are managed through the standard task system, filtered by engagement:

  • Assign tasks to team members with due dates
  • Track progress against milestones
  • Use checklists for multi-step deliverables
  • Log time directly from task completion

Calendar for Engagement Timelines

The calendar view shows engagement milestones, task deadlines, and team availability in a single view. Filter by:

  • Engagement
  • Team member
  • Milestone status (upcoming, in progress, overdue)

Contracts Module for Engagement Letters

Use the contracts module to manage engagement letters and proposals:

  1. Create a new contract linked to the engagement
  2. Use templates for standard engagement letter formats
  3. Track version history and approval status
  4. Store signed copies in the engagement's document folder

Prospect Pipeline

New business opportunities that have not yet been formally engaged appear in the Prospects pipeline. Track potential engagements from initial enquiry through to signed engagement letter:

  • Lead — initial contact or referral
  • Qualification — assessing fit, scope, and budget
  • Proposal — engagement letter or proposal sent
  • Negotiation — terms under discussion
  • Won/Lost — outcome tracked for pipeline analytics

Convert a prospect to an active engagement with a single click, preserving all notes, documents, and linked contacts.
