Resource Planning & Delivery
Effective resource planning is critical for consulting firms. AtlasOS provides tools to allocate team members to engagements, monitor capacity, and track the delivery of milestones and deliverables.
Task Assignments for Resource Allocation
Each task within an engagement can be assigned to one or more team members. Use task assignments to:
- Allocate work — assign specific deliverables to consultants based on skill and availability
- Balance workload — view each team member's current task count and upcoming deadlines
- Track accountability — every task has a clear owner with a due date
To assign a task, open it from the engagement detail view and select the team member(s) from the assignee dropdown.
Calendar View for Team Capacity
The calendar provides a visual overview of team capacity across all engagements:
- By person — see each consultant's commitments for the week or month
- By engagement — see who is allocated to each engagement and when
- Conflicts — identify over-allocation where a consultant is assigned to too many concurrent engagements
Use the calendar to plan ahead, ensuring no engagement is under-resourced at a critical milestone.
Project Milestones for Tracking Deliverables
Milestones represent the key checkpoints within an engagement. Each milestone tracks:
- Target date — when the deliverable is due
- Status — Not Started, In Progress, Complete, Overdue
- Linked tasks — the tasks that must be completed for the milestone to be achieved
- Completion percentage — calculated automatically from linked task progress
Review milestones from the engagement detail view or from the consolidated milestone dashboard.
Broadcasts for Client Updates
The broadcasts module allows you to send structured updates to clients:
- Progress reports — send milestone completion updates to project sponsors
- Newsletters — distribute thought leadership or practice updates to your client base
- Announcements — notify multiple clients of team changes, new services, or availability
Create a broadcast from Outreach > Broadcasts. Select recipients from your client list, draft the message, and schedule delivery.
Utilisation Reporting
Track team utilisation across all engagements:
- Billable vs non-billable hours by team member
- Engagement profitability — compare time spent against the fee agreed
- Capacity forecast — project future availability based on current engagement timelines
Access utilisation reports from Revenue > Reports.
